The 1934 Granville Gee Bee R-1 is an American air racing airplane manufactured by Granville Brothers Aircraft. It is the successor of the Granville Model Z produced between 1930-1931 and was part of Gee Bee's Model R series with the R-1 being the first out of two air planes manufactured (the other being the Gee Bee R-2). The plane was designed by Howell W. "Pete" Miller & Zantford Granville and was assembled at Springfield Airport in Massachusetts between 1932 and 1933.
The Gee Bee R-1 comes equipped with a Pratt & Whitney Wasp TDR3-1 engine developing 800 horsepower.
