North American (full name: North American Aviation) was an American airplane manufacturer. The company was established in 1928 on December 6th by Clement Melville Keys originally as a Holden company but began production of airplanes in the mid-1930s with the North American O-47 and the BC-1 being the first fighter jet.
North American was at its peak during the second World War as the demand for figher jets was high.
North American Aviation ceased its operations in the 1960s after a decline since the demand for their vehicles had dropped after the second World War. Boeing is the current owner of the North American marque.
