The 1977 Porsche 935 Coupé 2.0 (officially known as the Porsche 935/77 2.0 and frequently referred to as the Porsche 935 Coupé 2.0 "Baby") is a German race car manufactured by Porsche based on the Porsche 935 platform.

Originally introduced in 1976 as a Group 5 ready race-car, the 935 was a succesor to the Carrera RSR 2.1 turbo prototype. The first version, the 935/76, first looked like a 911 with racing parts, until it received it's iconic "slant nose", amongst other internal changes. After these changes, the 935/77 was then sold to customers. One version of it was the 935/77 2.0, a one-off production unit which was made to prove that Porsche could compete in DRM (Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft) 2.0 litre Div. II races, via having a lighter weight and a lower engine displacement of 1.4 litres, in contrast to the original 3.0-3.3 litre displacement. In the first outing at Norisring, the car, with Jacky Ickx behind the wheel, suffered from overheating complications. Porsche then skipped the next round of that race and instead sorted the car out for the DRM support race of the 1977 German Grand Prix at Hockenheimring, where, under changing weather circumstances, Jacky set pole position by almost 3 seconds and won with 50 seconds, setting the fastest lap in process. After its mission was accomplished, the 935/77 2.0 was retired to the Porsche Museum, where it sits today.[1]

Under the hood, the Porsche 935 Coupé 2.0 comes equipped with a 1.4L flat-six engine capable of developing 380 horsepower at 8,000 revolutions per minute (RPM). The vehicle was known as the Baby due to its reduced engine displacement compared to previous Porsche 935 models which usually tended to be in 3.0-3.3L dispacement span.

The Crew 2[]

The Porsche 935 Coupé 2.0 made its first appearance in the series in The Crew 2 where it was released as part of Elite Bundle #5 on July 15, 2020 alongside with the Nissan R390 GT1 Road Version and the Ducati draXter. It can now be purchased individually with either Bucks 599,200 or with Crew Credits 85,600.

Old Timer Edition[]

A special variant of the 935 Coupé named Old Timer Edition is a modified version of the car featuring an altered body kit, rims and a 1970s-themed livery. It was only obtainable by reaching platinum rank (4000 on PC, 11000 on PS4 and 2100 on Xbox One) in the 70's Racing Glory LIVE Summit that was active between April 19-26, 2023.

Trivia[]

  • The 935's original livery is not present in the game, likely due to copyright as it mainly consists of many sponsorship brandings.
  • There is a bug where if the player tries to open the car's door at home, the glass part of the mirrors, despite the mirrors being part of the fender, will act as if the mirror was connected to the door, which results in the glass floating off the actual mirror.
