The 1985 Porsche 959 Raid, officialy Porsche 959, and may also be known as the Porsche 959 Group B, is a rally version vehicle based of the original Porsche 959, which in itself was a heavily modified version of the Porsche 911.

The 959 was originally designed for Group B racing; however, the time it took to design the car was longer than expected. Afterwards, the first development cars, which were then called the 953s, then participated in the 1984 Dakar Rally. It won 1st, so development was continued. In 1985, 3 of the first 959s were entered in the 1985 Dakar Rally, where none of the 959s finished the race. Afterwards, they were fitted with twin-turbochargers and 2 cars entered the Rallye Des Pharaons. One car caught on fire, while the other one won 1st by Qatari Saeed Al-Hajri & Britian John Spiller. Afterwards, 3 cars were entered in the 1986 Dakar Rally, where they finished 1st place by French drivers René Metge & Dominique Lemoyne, 2nd place by Belgian drivers Jacky Ickx & Claude Brasseur, and 6th place. When the 959 was ready for homologation and production in 1987, the Group B program had ended a year prior, officially ending Porsche's participation in Group B.[1]
