Subaru is a Japanese car manufacturer based in Ebisu, Tokyo, Japan. It was established by Chikuhei Nakajima in 1915 as the Aircraft Research Laboratory and was initially an airplane manufacturer. They shifted the focus to cars and scooters and changed its name to Fuji Sangyo Co. (later Fuji Heavy Industries) after the second World War with the Subaru 1500 being the first car built by Fuji.
Subaru has had great success in racing, foremost in rallying and rallycross.
Apart from producing cars, Subaru is still a manufacturer of aircrafts as well as being a producer of wind turbines. Toyota and Suzuki own small shares in Subaru.
Subaru is the only licensed manufacturer that has not re-appeared in The Crew 2 after having been featured in the first title.
